UW customers across Great Britain can get a free upgrade to smart meters. When you get a smart meter, you can understand your energy usage and take steps to save money.

What is a smart meter?

It’s the latest energy technology that automatically submits your meter readings, so your bills are always accurate.

And it lets you see exactly how much energy you’re using to help you use less and save money on energy bills.

What’s the difference?

* Over 20% of UW customers who switched to a smart meter saved at least 667kWh of electricity per year compared to their own previous year’s usage. This works out to savings of £138 based on the average regional cost of our Green Fixed 14 tariff. Analysis taken in July 2021 against 48,478 customers who made the switch to smart in 2020.

Because we receive readings automatically, this puts an end to estimated bills. Which helps you avoid paying too much or building up a debt.
